President of Teams Design Chicago, Paul Hatch has been selected to Chair the IDSA International Conference in 2013. The annual conference which brings 700-1,000 industrial designers together to discuss new technologies, trends and themes, and aims to collaboratively forward the profession as a whole. The 2013 conference will be in Chicago.

On June 15, IDSA and AIGA joined forces to wrap up the third annual Chicago Design Week with some head-to-head competition at TEAMS Design Chicago. Sixteen challengers threw their hats into the ring, but only one emerged as the next Iron Sketch champion. |

In the 2012 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition, the Safepole IV Pole has been selected as a Gold winner in the General Hospital Devices and Therapeutic Products category. The winning design originated from the firsthand experience of Safepole founder Cari Ugent. When Ugent was hospitalized for intensive cancer treatment, she became frustrated while dragging around an IV pole that hindered her from performing basic tasks. She came to us to improve upon the flawed device, and together, we pushed the limits of standard IV poles. |

Over 350 design students, practitioners, and educators from across the Midwest made their way to TEAMS Chicago for Designers After Dark following the opening day of the IDSA Midwest Design Dialogue Conference. |

Update: The Design Research Methods Workshop I and Workshop II will be returning to TEAMS Chicago on May 20, 2012. Due to the workshop's continued popularity, it's scheduled to return to Chicago every three months. You can register now for any of the dates in this ongoing series. Originally posted February 16, 2012: TEAMS Chicago will once again welcome Rob Curedale of the LinkedIn Design Research Group as he teaches a course on the important role of research in design. The two half-day workshops combine into a full-day course that will teach designers, architects, and business executives the fundamentals of an evidence-based approach to design. |
